Artist Sangwook Huh reinterprets the traditional Korean Buncheong ceramic technique with a modern aesthetic. Using the Bakji method, he applies white slip to clay, then carves patterns by scraping away the surface to reveal the base clay. He further enhances his works with silver inlay, underglaze blue, and iron oxide decorations.
Huh’s beautiful pieces have been exhibited at the Gyeonggi International Ceramic Biennale, Cheongju Craft Biennale, and are held in collections including the Victoria & Albert Museum, the National Museum of Ethnography in Warsaw, the Ariana Museum in Geneva, and the Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum. He was also awarded the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize in 2022.
