Jinwan Kim is a Korean ceramic artist and the founder of Sosa-Yo (“Small Sand Kiln”) in Icheon. Since the late 1980s, he has dedicated his practice to crafting teaware that embodies quiet presence, tactile subtlety, and a profound reverence for traditional techniques. Centering his work on the potter’s wheel, Kim often uses unglazed dark clay, shaping each vessel through a slow, meditative throwing process. His pieces reflect a philosophy of restraint and intimacy—each becoming a silent companion in the ritual of tea. Internationally recognized and featured in major exhibitions, Kim’s work bridges Korea’s rich ceramic heritage with a contemporary, contemplative sensibility.
